Thank you to everyone who came along to Save Our Bewl – an Olympian Effort on Sunday.
We were incredibly encouraged by the turnout, the sunshine, and the positive atmosphere — and by the opportunity to stand alongside inspiring sporting heroes Emily Craig and Georgie Grant, as well as water users and supporters who care deeply about Bewl Water’s future.
It was also excellent to welcome Chrissie Reidy from the BBC, who filmed interviews and took photographs capturing the strength of feeling and the importance of Bewl Water as a place for sport, wildlife, wellbeing and community.
Please do share these widely.
The most important next step
Deadline: 11.59pm, Wednesday 29 April 2026
While Sunday was a real boost, the decision will now be made by a Planning Inspector, and time is very short.
If you have not yet submitted an objection to the appeal, please do so before 11.59pm this Wednesday, 29 April 2026.
Even if you objected earlier to Wealden District Council, you must object again at appeal stage for your views to be taken into account.
How to object (quick reminder)
- Visit: the planning inspectorate website : link here
- Enter the appeal reference: 6006398
- Click “Comment on this appeal”
- Set out your planning reasons for objecting (if you wish to upload documents, you can do this by writing something in the comments box and clicking next – you will then be taken to a page where you can upload documents)
If you live nearby, visit Bewl Water, or use it for recreation, please say so.
Even a short objection helps — numbers really do matter.

Please help us in these final days
Many people still don’t realise they need to object again. If you can, please:
- Share this page with friends, neighbours and fellow users
- Encourage them to submit an objection before 11.59pm on Wednesday 29 April
Sunday showed just how much support there is for Bewl Water.
Now we need to make sure that support is formally recorded.
